My rear speakers only work when it's hot enough outside to make the interior very warm. As soon as it cools down, they won't work anymore. Any reason why this could be happening. They are the stock speakers and stereo system on a 99' GP GT. Thanks in advance.

Your speakers are 11 years old it might be time for an upgrade
You can get a pair of 6 x 9's for pretty cheap and the sound quality will improve greatly while the intermittent sound will go away

This has been the way it's worked for about 8 years, since my parents bought the car. Now that I have bought it from them, I would like them to work all the time. Sure they're not the best quality, but to me they sound pretty decent(for stock speakers) when they work. Another thing is I'm trying to save money as I am a poor and paying for college. Not sure if I have the "bose system" or not but there is nothing in the trunk. Where is that bose amp supposed to be?

You get to the rear speakers through the trunk, they are in the back on the top they put the sound out above the back seats
You will know if you have the bose system if it says Bose on the grills of the front 5 1/4" speakers on the doors
I would check the connections and make sure that they are connected correctly and if they are than it sounds like your speakers are on the way out

Stock rear speakers tend to do what youre describing. Its not a connection issue, the speakers die.

Replace them with whatever 6x9's you'd like.

Thanks for clearing it up. I haven't bought aftermarket speakers in around 10 years, any suggestions?

I don't know if its different in the 2000 bodies but my 99 had to replace them by removing the rear seat and the carpeted deck from inside the car, screws are on the inside... kind of complicated but only took an hour of work to replace them both... definitely need to get new ones, mine worked intermittently like you said and it was the old voice coil in the speaker shorting out.... new ones are flawless

Fresh Installed Memphis 6x9s.... roughly 100bux for the pair

Yes to remove them you have to take off the back seats and seat belts
Slide off the top carpeted area with the grills for the speakers and you can start removing the speakers
You can get to the connectors through the trunk if you want to tinker around there first
