So now that I have my car paid off I'm finally getting around to fixing the audio and I wanna know what you guys suggest for the front door speakers, I want something where the bass isn't gonna blow it. Period. That's what happened with the stock speakers, but I also want something that's gonna have nice clean vocals, any suggestions? btw my budget is 200 and under

I have a suggestion....install your speakers the RIGHT way and majority of them will meet your needs.

Well...I was trying to instigate a question. There's more to a speaker than hooking up wires and securing it to a baffle. Enclosures play a big role in your speakers ability to respond to the given signal. You can add pressure to the cone by limiting the air space behind the speaker...you can remove that back pressure by not enclosing it too. In addition to that, the way you install that speaker could promote standing waves or cancellation of certain frequencies. So where do you want to install it and how was the speaker designed?

Honest truth is that you won't know how a speaker sounds in YOUR vehicle until it's installed. In addition, you don't know how YOUR vehicle will respond to those speakers either. So far, my experience is that our(2004+) doors must be treated in order to maintain stock locations.

Bottom line, unless you REALLY want to get into some specifics and as long as you stay with brands that have decent manufacturing standards go ahead and buy some speakers you're comfortable with. If you give them a try and don't like them...maybe that local audio dealership will let you swap without restocking fees or being a jerk. Typically they'll want you to pay for labor, and that's the trade off.

I have no speakers in my doors because my totally stock non bose system shook my door panels enough for me to be able to hear them.

And I only had that thing in for all of a week or so.

*DING DING DING* Gotta treat the doors if you want good sound. It's not fun either. And don't expect to have "mechanical access" for maintenance reasons either.

i'd rather build a box and attach it to the door than use the door at all.

Gotta start with something good instead of building on a poor foundation.

Alpine S types, trust me i designed my sound system myself, and they sound AMAZING. I have 2 front alpine S types, 2 rear alpine S types, with 2 12" Kickers and Kenwood Amp, for the price, you cant beat that sound

Alright, that was ALOT more helpful than your first post, no offense. I have buddies who do this kinda stuff on a regular basis (don't we all?) I'm planning on having them install, I've heard some of their work and no rattling or anything, I have a 97-03 prix though and not the 04+ model, so I'm hoping that the door problem you have me scared about won't be there...?

if you like it loud, and refuse to do anything more than what GP 97GTP suggested then the doors will rattle.

Everything rattles in a car. 10% hardware, 90% install. If you're not noticing any resonance from your mid-range then you're not loud
