Still waiting to talk to my friend. He's on vacation on some tropical island in the caribbean.
Here's my concern. I can't find anywhere that describes how the Alpine KWE155B works other than with the EX-10. But I know for a fact he did not have an EX-10. What confuses me is I dont know how the KWE155B creates a signal that can be picked up by the radio, I believe its just an antenna splitter. I know the Ipod/Iphone can't do it, so I'm wondering if he had some other kind of modulator in the car or something.
I did however find deals on everything through amazon though if you think you might like it. The ex-10 does look pretty sweet. It would also allow you to charge and fully control your ipod from the touch screen rather than having to handle your ipod.
KWE155B $24.99 Amazon.com: Alpine KWE155B Antenna Switch Box for EX10: Electronics
Alpine EX-10 $28.70 Amazon.com: Alpine eX-10 - Bluetooth hands-free car kit / iPod interface adapter w/built-in FM modulator: Electronics
40gm10 adapter $4.68 Amazon.com: Metra 40-GM10 GM Antenna Adapter: ANTOnline
40gm20 adapter $4.68 Amazon.com: METRA Ltd 40-GM20 Gm Radio Antenna with Mini Adapter: ANTOnline
This would still be all plug and play.
The other option is a standard wired fm-modulator. but they would require you to tap into a power source and splice a single wire. Which isn't hard to do but if you have never done it before it can be intimidating. A local stereo shop would probably do it for you for $20 or so.
