I got a iPod Touch, and wanted a way to hook it up to the factory radio. Well, I have learned FM tuners don't work well, and a adapter kit to make it work with the factory GM radio is 139$ USA Spec iPodĀ® Interface Connects your iPod to select 1994-02 GM factory radios at Crutchfield.com

So I figured for 10$ more, I might as well upgrade to a higher powered headunit that has all the features I would like, and for 70$ more, I can get my steering wheel controls back (but at a later point for my budget.)

Clarion DXZ385USB CD receiver with front USB input at Crutchfield.com

Lucky for me, the previous owner of my car installed JL Audio Separates in the front, and JL audio 6x9's in the back. I can't remember the model #'s now, but I looked them up once, and a couple years ago, they were the top of the line for the front, and the mid-model for the 6x9's.

I also have laying around in my basement an old SAS 10" Bazooka tube, and don't laugh......a 100W Sherwood Amp that I bought new in 90-91? and it still appears to power up, so I figure I might use this as well. Looks like this but a 50x2 or 100x1

So, I think I can get a basic stereo going for 149$ from crutchfield + some weekend time......

Anyone familar with the crutchfield install faceplates? It states it sticks out 1" or so, and wonder if I can get this a bit more flush?
