    Hey guys.

My 04 GP is stock on the dash, and I was thinking about getting a stereo deck - mostly due to the fact that I want an AUX IN plug (for my ipod, so I can get rid of my thousands of unmarked CD's in my door panels) and also due to the fact that my clock light is burnt out (pain in the ass).

A guy that I know - not really a friend just a guy that I met at a hockey game is getting rid of a pioneer deck for $70 and I'm a little "iffy" about getting it. I'm asking him to post a few pictures as we speak, and gonna get the model number and crap.

Are most stereo decks compatible with GP's?

And if I do get it, I might just get Future Shop to install it for me, i've tried to take out the stereo deck before(for my clock light) and I just am too nervous i'm gonna break it - i was trying to pry it out with a screwdriver which could be the complete wrong way, but I didn't see any other way to get it out.

    Are pioneer deck's good?

dude, what year is the car and where are you located in ontario? I'll do it for free if you're local.

    pioneer decks are good.

just dont connect or disconnect the RCA's while the deck is on and you'll be okay.

Im in Ottawa, but apparently this deck doesn't have an AUX IN plug so I'm not going to get it.

Maybe if I find another and you're local, i'd appreciate the help haha.

    Cheers

    Ouch yeah, keep looking.

Just get the model numbers and then check the manufacturers website before you buy.

Im nearer toronto so I couldn't really help there.

    Good luck

    Okay guys, what the f*ck.

I just called my local future shop to ask about how much installation will run me for a new stereo deck that I'm thinking about purchasing err... WAS thinking about purchasing and well this is what he tells me.

I drive an 04 GP and he was telling me that before I could have a deck put in, I would need a $200-250 "module" put in, in order to put an aftermarket deck in.

What the hell? Is this true or is he just bull ****tin me?

I don't know much about stereo decks which is why I was gonna get Future Shop to do it, but what the hell is this module he's talking about?

I didn't want anything fancy for a deck - just the fact that my clock light is burnt out and I want to be able to use my ipod. It was just some $100 Pioneer one that I was looking at.

    Someone help me here, thanks.

Well...high end, the module was ~$130. I found one for ~$30 because the speaker "chime" was built in instead of being wired in parallel to the stereo signal. After installation, I can believe they'd charge that much...ridiculous?...probably.

Check my link and you'll see photos of my CDA-9887. It's probably way too much for your needs tho :/
