Ok I just got two kenwood 12's in a box with an amp from a friend and I was wondering if someone could tell me what do I need to put them in. I know I have to get the power cable and the rca that goes from the head unit to the amp and then the cables from the amp to the subs. Is there anything that im missing?

    ground wire.

remote on wire if the amp needs it.

do you have a stock head unit or aftermarket?

First off... it should almost never be positive unless you're showing off... second... no bass knobs and no bass boost EVER.

Ok thanks for the info I'm new to the audio stuff so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I'm guessing bass boost is a fast way to blow your subs right

    wire is wire is wire.

Gauge matters, and strand count does for flexibility.

Find the cheapest **** you can.

yes. 8 gauge for say 400 watts and less, 4 gauge for 1000-800 watts or less, then multiple 4 gauge for anything over or 2-0 gauge.

Should I point the holes in the box towards the passengers or away? Oh and I read somewhere I forgot where but the person was saying that if you use the ports that the box has for the wiring that you loose some power to the subs, that you are better off putting the wires straight from the amp to the box without using the ports that are on the box. Is this true?

4 gauge should be plenty for what you are running
