I called this local car audio place. they said they'd replace my speaker system for my 2002 pontiac grand prix se for about $125 (this includes the 2 speakers in the front doors, and the two speakers in the back deck). Does that sound right? or is that a bad price? also should i up it and not just get the replacement speakers but get brand name speakers?

aftermarket speakers will sound better, that is a good price depending on how much the speakers are per pair, which i am not sure about

get them from the wrecker yourself and put them in yourself.

$125 is a really good price for what you're getting.

Scratch that lol i went into the place and spoke with them in person. To replace the two door and the two deck speakers they want $380, which can be divided up to be $150 for the doors, and $180 for the two decks. Apparently the two replacement speakers for the doors will have tweeters built in, in order to function more efficiently.

    Thats a load of bull.

Tweeters down there would be as useless as tweets in your rear deck.

Do you think that having the built in tweeters makes much of a difference?

nope, they will be useless if they are for the front. just hook your stock tweeters back up in the front and go from there.

tweeters generally suck when off axis.

only ring radiators or very small tweeters have good off axis, but they still sound better on axis.

on axis means the speakers are facing directly towards you/your ears. off axis means they are not.

hey, u may say that, but have u ever had them? they are WAY underestimated. and like i said in my post, im not lookin to blow off my doors. i just want something that sounds good, and can be loud when needed. they fill that perfectly.
