I'm ready to finally upgrade my head unit on my 2000 GTP. My question is this. Is there a way to mount an aftermarket (looking at the new Pioneer 6200BT that comes out in a week) head unit so that it is flush and doesn't stick out 1" or whatever? It seems like most people have head units that stick out.

    Thanks.

2000 GTP was killed by 16 year old - Nov 20, 2010 - It only had 74,000 miles, a ZZP 3" Catted Downpipe, ZZP SS PLOG, FWI, 180* T-Stat, Flipped Dog Bones, GMPP Sway Bars, G2 painted Rotors and Calipers, HUMount, and was Dexcool free!

well since aftermarket HUs are longer tthan the factory radio, the adapter is going to stick out, and just the faceplate will stick out from that, unless you customize a dash kit

kjohnson, yours definitely doesn't stick out like some of the others I've seen. Is that something to do with the humount? Or was your replacement HU just not as deep as most?

I have seen others for much cheaper though that are flush mounting you just got to get the right size of the compartment which right off hand I cant remember. I'm pretty sure that it is a letter that tells you what size for sure. you can get toughs for like 10 bucks. I really like the look of mine its really clean but still flashy but it was defiantly an expensive install for a couple of lights. just a thought. you may be able to get the mount for cheep from like crutch field or something like that.

humounts rock. i had one in my car. its about as flush as youre going to get since the mount actually sandwiches the head unit in it.

How difficult was it to remove the trim piece on the dash? Wanna know what I'm getting myself into.

2 screws to drop the kick panel on the drive side down, then it just pulls off, unplug the fog light switch and remove. Takes about 2min

The blaze is better, but rock 108 comes in better.
