I know this is not related, but I must know...is 10.7 your typical mileage?

Yours also mounts in the center of the bezel. I have seen a bezel that has the stereo near the top, then there is a cubby hole/storage thingy under it. Just thinking about it I wonder if that type pushes the stereo up above the dash bracket and allows it to sit farther back. I would like to find one that style that fits our cars and see how it sits.

No, it doesn't clear the bracket. They stick out as much as the others.

It is a little hard to tell in the pictures...is yours the fine black texture finish? Did you have to cut your dash bracket to fit the stereo flush like that or does it sit like that in the mount without other mods? What are you currently looking to get for it?

its a direct fit in the dash like the stock head unit and that is how it sits out of the box. no modding of anything necessary.

The color is not controlled by the lights as they are just white, but there is a piece of colored plastic that is wedged between the front plate that you see and the light bar. Find some purple acrylic somewhere and you could cut a piece and make it purple...

Hmm didn't know that...it would still be odd with all red and one thing purple though lol

here's a regular mount without the additional brick out front.

bad photo.. didn't spend a dime on the mount. took ten minutes and it's flush.

That looks really good. So you just used the dremel to carve out the bracket in the dash to let it sit farther back? Do the bezel mounting tabs adjust front to back to allow you to set the depth, or did you just have to carve out the dash to let it slide back farther?

    i started with this:

if you reference pieces 1 and 2 in my lovely rendition to the crutchfield photo, you will see that you will not need that piece out front, piece 2.

the red line on the right side of my picture shows where you need to cut the dash in order to free up some room (i understand my bracket looks like a train, but it looks something like that).
on piece 1, i have red marks there because IIRC i had to trim a little bit on either side to get it in nice and snug.
the small black rectangles are the pieces that snap in to piece 1 and house the screws (seen in the foreground of the crutchfield photo). now that i think about it, i think these pieces were what i trimmed to get it to fit rather than piece 1 itself.

93 CTD - more slow, less rust

essentially what you are doing is moving the receiver back an inch/inch and a quarter. by removing the front brick, you are allowing the receiver to sit flush. yet due to stock dimensions, you are running into the little dash piece that needs cut in order to allow the receiver to move back that extra inch.

Very helpful. I have not picked up the kit/bezel piece yet, but my only question now is about piece 1 and 2 you referenced. These look like they are one piece. Do they actually come apart? I can see how the bulge would push the stereo forward an inch or two just by not letting it sit flush with the bracket, but I did not realize you could remove that piece.

i don't see why all mounts wouldn't allow you to take that front piece off. it snapped in and out just like the little mounting brackets do on the sides. they were two seperate pieces when i received mine.
