Alright - so this just started happening and it starts at random. I have a 97 GTP.

So I start the car and all of a sudden the rear speakers start popping loudly, like REAL loud. The music still plays very clearly with no problems, I can even mute the music but the popping is still there. The only way to get rid of the popping is to 1. turn off the radio or 2. it just will stop sometimes if I restart the car.

Before I open it all up and check it, I wanted to know if this was a problem seen before and what it would be. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I had the same problem in my Prelude and it turned out that I pinched a wire going to my front stage and it was touching metal and grounding out. Was an easy fix but a big pain in the rump hunting down the source. I would retrace all wires and checkem closely. Good luck

Are the speakers amplified externally or are they running off of the radio's power? If it is running off of radio power, is it a stock radio or aftermarket?

Is the loud popping noise causing all music to stop playing through the speaker, or does it play music and still pop while its doing it?

It is probably the positive speaker wire touching the negative speaker wire or vice versa and causing distortion (the popping noise) But there are other factors that I wouldn't rule out.

Everything is stock on the vehicle. Stock radio running stock speakers.

The music still plays while the popping sound is going on. Also the popping is at random, and doesn't always happen... but its still pretty annoying when it starts up.

I agree that it could be something with the ground or the wires touching... so this weekend I'll have to track down the wires to make sure everything is legit.

Do I need to do anything special to remove the rear speakers? Just for a heads up if its a pain to track down the wires. Thanks.
