hi guys. when I return, I was thinking of getting a bigger box, retiring the zx1000 and putting a zx1500 on my 2 12" L7's. Anyone think i'll stll be straight with my 4g power wire? or will I need to go to a 0g. I don't wana cause a 0g is so big. but I'm also planning on doing "the big 3" under the hood for headlight purposes with the 1500watt amp.

please comment insight on if a new power wire would be needed.

You should have had bigger than 4awg with the 1000, so I would at least try to go up to a 2awg cable if you dont want to go to the 0awg

1998 Grand Prix GTP Stock for now mods to come soon. Alpine 9885 head unit, 2 JLW3V2 10s, 2 Jensen 650x2 amps, and Tsunami wiring all the way around.

bro I would do 0 gauge. I have 0 for my mtx 6500d and I love it. I mean sure I could get away with a bigger gauge, but the better quality wires you put to your system the better it is imo.

zr1 posted some **** about a chart that lists what power amps and what guage cable to use, find that and enjoy using science.

yeah i may just go the best route and go 0g but hell i cant see running that guage under the carpet without it showing lol. may run it under the car insted if I do that.

ninjazx6e - I've never found any issues with my system as far as heat or distortion with a 4gauge and my zx1000 amp.

I dont doubt it, you can get away with it in most cases, just 4 awg is the minimum size for 1000 watts at 16 feet, so i would recommend going to at least 2 awg for the bigger amp.

    check this out

quality of the wires.... as long as you're not buying wires that werent made to the specs of RCA wires and have protective jackets, they're all the same. Only big difference is the gauge.

Lawl... Clippity clip clip clip is how 99% of people run their sound systems when showing off.

Check your voltage loss, because thats what happens when you run a lot of current across a small wire.

Cars are just ****ing retarded and run off of 12V/14.4V so the second you get reduced voltage you're losing power.

half a volt at 100 amps is 50 watts lost to the power cable.

ive got a 0g running under my carpet and you wont notice it. i took it under the car to the hole in the passenger floor. then brought it in and ran it to the side of the seat and down a little then all the way back nd under the back seat. makes a hell of a diff. i ran my 3600w amp with a 4g and caught the wire on fire. bigger wire is way better.
