I'm starting to be partial to that Kenwood one now...two of my buddies have Pioneers that are the older models of the one I'm looking at...this would be different...looks kind of nice in there.

Does anyone know if there is an Excelon at say Ultimate Electronics or Best Buy or something so I can mess with it in person...? Otherwise, I think I may go with it anyways...but I'd like to mess with it a bit first.

Probably not, you'd need to find a more upper scale car audio store to find that one.

Ah...well it looks nice, and looks like that color matches up well. I guess I can go without the front USB...

I think I have swung to the Kenwood.

I just wanted to see how the interface was, like messing with it to find songs and stuff that's all.

    That tray option still exists.

I'd go for it unless you absolutely need front USB. It just doesn't seem practical when you'd be putting a flash drive in it.

my input on this is dont go with a cheap one but if ur spending 250 then i dont thing that is a problem. Get a nice one that has the look and fuction you want so u dont regret it in a couple months. The USB is nice cuz it charges ur ipod along with playing ur music and as for the red theme of the rest of the lights in the gp most of the time they have changing display colors.

Well between the Pioneer and the Kenwood mentioned in this thread...I'm gonna go Kenwood I think.

@Matt5112: you talking about the tray part of the assembly kit underneath the deck? I'd like that kit vs. no tray. And I guess the front USB seemed better for availability but as long as I have access to the cable I'll be happy.

See this picture here. See where the white cable? Routing the USB cable on the Kenwood down there won't be a problem at all. I understand what you're looking for, I've just never heard of one for our cars.

What I'm saying would be run the USB cable down to the cigarette lighter area so you won't have the chance of knocking the flash drive while its being used with the deck.

    Like so.

Yep...well I'll be able to live with it lol. Yeah and that's the same deck my two buddies have.

I'm 90% sure i'll take the kenwood though. I wanted to make sure I found one that has more than a 2 line display, that's why I looked at that Pioneer at best buy more so. Since this Excelon does the same, and I can match the color...looks like the interface is techy enough for me as well...so unless anyone has any other suggestions, I think I've found what I want. Thanks for all the help Matt5112 and whoever posted the kenwood link. I'll probably be ordering soon and may need some help then on the install process lol.

install is as simple as four screws and carefully prying the dash cover off.

Don't get me wrong here the pioneer is a nice deck, but I really prefer the kenwood deck. Let me know if you want me to post any video's on it of the functionality of it before you buy it!

Well, I'll take your word for it on the system stuff like with an amp and all that stuff...not looking that far ahead yet.

So pretty much just the functionality of going through a library and radio presets and all that fun stuff. Nothing too special, just the basics minus the extra stuff for subs and all that. That'll come later lol

Just ordered the Kenwood excelon KDC-x693 deck from Crutchfield. Messed with a similar model at Best Buy. And liked it. So...should get it by the end of the week. May need help with the install. Thanks again for helping me decide guys
