i found the harness i needed after going to 3 different stores..

got the HU in and played around with it a bit.. it's pretty neat.. the ipod cable will be hidden once i get the pioneer cable for it.. i also modded the unit so dvd/divx can be watched without having to set the parking brake..

random dvd i picked.. 28 days later

I've got a question on a wiring harness also. I've got a 2000 gtp. The gm harness I have plugs right into it, but there is still a small plug left that doesn't have a slot. And that plug apparently goes to the amp because when putting the factory hu back in, the speakers would not work without that plug. I've researched all over the web and couldn't find and specific gm bose harness for it.

Most people who replace their HU end up replacing their amps and speakers hence the lack of that particular harness. Also, the signal being sent to the bose amp is most likely the same as the RCA output which means you could wire those in if you knew what was what. I have no idea if theres a wiring diagram for that.

Hmm so after installing my new head unit my DIC doesn't display the date anymore, it looks like this . . . . . . . just a bunch of dots, everything else works fine though.. also theres a harness that goes to the back of the factory stereo that only has one wire, my new harness did not have a place to plug it in.. whats that wire for? to store the date maybe?

Run your remote turn on wire to the pink wire on the small connector. That will make the speakers work.

This is only if you have a factory amp. For it to turn on, it must get 12V from the pink wire. Basically a remote turn on wire.

BLKGP, that was probably in response to stitch's question.

If it was a plastic harness theres a large possibility that was what it was for. GM seems to have made the HU an integral part of the HUD and the DIC which means for newer cars your options are stock with info, or aftermarket without info. There might be a solution, but I have yet to hear about it.

i'm guessing that's what it was for.. oh well not a big deal, i just leave the DIC on the mileage.. small sacrifice for a much better stereo

    BLKGP,
I have a similar problem, plus a few. My door locks lock and unlock while driving, and my trunk sometimes pops open. Also, we just had a code in the DIC that says "possible error in charging system" or something like that. Did you notice any of these issues? I can't believe they are all related to the stereo install, even if it wasn't done properly, but that's what they are telling me.

that's strange, i didn't have any problems like that.. what kind of harness did you use? almost sounds like there's a problem with your master switch

I had a regular Scosche harness, I think, from Walmart and the GMOS-01 box. We put the factory stereo back in, but my wife really wants the XM. I called the dealership to see if they can add XM to the factory, but I guess they can't. It's hard to believe that GM would make a stereo that you can swap out with one that has more functionality or that you can't add on to it.

Don't some aftermarket decks support satellite radio?
