I have a 2008 grand prix base model with the factory stereo in it and I wanted to add a aux input adapter. In looking at the front of the radio, there is a CD/AUX button so I assume that in the back of the radio there is a port or something that I can plug an adapter in to use that button.

Can anyone verify this and/or tell me what adapter I need to make that work?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem and read on another message board that this piece, PIE GM12-AUX V2 AUX INPUT FOR 12 PIN GM CARS listen to your iPod, MP3, DVD or Satellite Radio on select 2000-06 factory GM radios AUX; would work with the radio. I havn't tried it yet, but other than buying an aftermarket radio to be put in, this may be the only option. Let me know if you find any other ideas...Thanks

I just bought that adapter and have it plugged in but not operational yet. You need a constant 12v source for it (cigarette lighter) but need to run the wires for it.

Otherwise it was a quick 10 minute install (if that). It plugs right in the back of the radio and should work right off of the CD/Aux button.

Also, did you have to take the entire radio out to get it plugged into the back, or were you able to just go up the back of the radio without taking it out? I'm horrible at this kind of thing, so i'm not even sure how to get the radio out of this thing...

I had to take the radio out but it's easy. Pop off your key cylinder cover then the cover around the radio and its like 6 screws. It's extremely simple and I am terrible at these things too. The tricky part is finding a good ground and 12v constant power. I think my best bet is going to be to remove the center console and wire it in to one of the cigarette outlets. In looking on the net the center console is not too hard to take off. Just a couple screws here and there.

I'll post my results when I get this done (probably next weekend).

Also if you want detailed instructions, I'd head to www.crutchfield.com they sell the instructions there (like 10 bucks) but they are nice and detailed for your specific car.
