ok so i ordered a 12 inch infinity kappa perfect dvq sub through my best buy discount. i already have a pioneer 7900bt headunit with 5.1 infinity door speakers. the amp is a kenwood 9103d running at 2ohms or 900 watts. i have a 2 farad digital cap and a sealed custom tuned 50hz box. the entire car is extreme dynomatted.
how do you think this sub would fair with this setup? it arrives on friday so im stoked. hopefully ill be happy with this sub so i can focus on the aesthetics of my sound system instead of buying all new stuff. thanks in advance.

wait you got a kappa through best buy? Last time I checked we cant get kappa stuff, only the reference.
You also have a center channel? Can you get pics of how yours is set up?

This tuned sealed box you speak of how did you accomplish tuning it to 50 hz? and if so, why 50 hz?
If it is in fact "tuned" to 50 hz, then you probably would have been better off going with a smaller 8" sub or low wattage 10" sub in a small sealed box, since the tuning of the box you have now would not play lows very well at all.

sorry i meant 5 and a quarter. i just refer to them as 5.1s lol. do you work at best buy? if so pm me and ill give you the harmon kardon accomadations site and password so you can order all kinds of stuff. you need your employee number though or they will red flag it. i only paid 110 shipped to my door for the perfect. it arrives today....... oh and about the box. my friend built it for me and says it was rated or tuned for 50 hz. its a HUGE box and was meant for a type r 12 so im sure it will work fine.

Oh no I have the best buy password for that I thought you meant like an instore sale, even so I really don't like infinity products, jbl gti stuff (along with others) is more my style. Yes I work for best buy at location 1426 in edwardsville, Illinois and I am the car audio senior. It is nice because my department finished number 1 in the district, 2 in the territory and number 23 in the whole company for the fiscal year of 2007.

If the box was built for a type-r, I don't think it is going to work for that sub well at all, I say that because infinity always reccomends and claims they work well in small-medium sealed boxes and medium sized ported boxes tuned to around 32 hz. Also make sure you put the correct pole piece in the sub, so It wont sound like crap.

I have a Q-Logic sealed box with 2 12" References in it and it POUNDS for how weak the RMS rating is on the subs.

if you want less quality sound. The kappas love small boxes, and will be a nice tight sound

less quality!? you serious? lol maybe in the Qlogic box.... Guess i never competed against an infinity sub when I won 4 state championships in TN For SQ,SPL,RSPL,DBSPL. yea the sub costs 700 bucks but IMO best sub ever made. That of coarse is my oppinion and some of the judges of MECA

having been an IASCA and CMAA competitor, as well as a rep for JL (not to mention IASCA judge) I can say they are by far not the best (I have never seen any JL vehicle win on a national level) I also know who actually makes the subs, and can buy from them for a ton less money

#1 if you want to argue JL your barking up wrong tree cause i have been argueing this for 7 yrs now. but you being a "JL rep" i suppose you know what your talking about. #2 as stated this was my OPINION. #3 your dead wrong about not winning on a national lvl. But i guess because it was MECA my win dont count? Anyways if you want to go infinity then more power to yea. But IMO (In my opinion) Theres better out there.

I know this is a dead thread but I thought I would ask you how your system turned out. I have a pair of infinity kappa perfect 12 inch VQ's and I couldn't be happier. They love a small sealed box with lots of power. Very accurate bass. My whole system is infinity kappa perfect and I wont ever go to anything else. Good luck and I hope your as happy as I am.

What's with you People and commenting nothing somthing you have no buisness in. Sorry I have a little curiousity to see if I fellow infinity user was as happy as I was. You guys ruin forums like these and make people not want to comment on anything they are interested in. Comment on somthing you have somthing constructive to say, if not, dont comment.
