Single din in a Grand prix

i have a alpine cda 9886 and I am hesitant to put it in the Grand Prix(03). for single dins Im going to have to have that plastic all around it right?

I havent been able to find many pics of single dins in them, anyone care to share?

Am I ever glad that thread died... Its full of horrible installs.

That equipment list made me laugh.

And yes, you pretty much have to use the plastic mount. There are a few different types, apparently the flush ones look best.

What about the sound from it? When I wire this up I think I read I still have to run the monsoon amp, so how much is the sound going to change by running this head unit over the stock one?

if its going to sound the same Im probably better off just buying an oem replacement?
