I have a 04 Gtp and have already replaced the factory rear speakers with new factory rear monsoon speakers and guess what few months later and now they are shot. As far as i can tell the rear speakers they made for this car are garbage. However the fronts ive had ZERO problems with. Now i know the monsoon amp only lets you use 4 ohm speakers or something to that effect and speakers at say bestbuy are all 2 ohm (if i remember right). So the question is .
Is there a speaker that will work that isnt the factory monsoon garbage that can work with the monsoon amp ? I would really like to keep the factory headunit in place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance to any replies.

lol...most speakers are 4 ohm...i wouldnt go best buy tho...try your local stereo house as they know whats a good speaker for the price...the big name brands arent always the best...my best speakers so far have been Memphis...and also In my honest opinion the rear speakers in a car arent important...tweets and your front rounds are where money need be spent...and a subwoofer replaces the rear speakers...but if you must...i suggest installing a round speaker in place of a 6x9, they make adaptors for 6.5 inch rounds will fit...most people will agree that round speakers are the best not oval (they dont flex well) check out crutchfield.com...just punch in your car and stereo setup and they suggest speakers...and they give free install gear like the 6x9 to 6.5 squares if you buy speakers from them

It's not the best way to do this but you can take the speaker level input and plug it into the input of a new amp. You MUST have a speaker to line level adapter or have an amp that's made to take speaker level as an input. If you want to go this route, I have an adapter I'll send you for $15 shipped.

I personally think that YOU will be happy with either round or oval (6x9 or otherwise) speakers. Other people might not be satisfied until they have a set of McIntosh's in their car (ie me).

6x9's don't maintain the physical characteristics for reproducing sounds properly.

Mid speakers can be designed for mid-range or mid-bass. To accurately produce all the way down to 20hz physics says you need a 12" driver. A 6.5" will usually take you down to about 60hz w/a 24db slope but it is still driver dependent...meaning did they design the mid to be used as bass or mid-range? Bass frequencies actually extend all the way up and through 250hz.

To give you an idea of the frequency range needed for a tight kick drum you would add at 800hz, subtract at 200 and 60hz. Matching your drivers is important if you're worried about quality. If you just want bump in your ride I would suggest an Alpine Type-R(pretty accurate for a mass market speaker) run at 4ohms and 300 to 600watts total. Btw, running 600watts won't gain any more noticeable performance than 300.

If you want a suggestion for 6x9...I refuse
