I just replaced the dead factory 6 x 9s on my 2000 GP GT coupe. I have a pair of 6 1/2 speakers that were previously in an Impala. I had hoped that I could swap the factory door speakers as well, but Crutchfield and Best Buy say the doors are 5 1/4. Is the door not deep enough or the hole not wide enough without taking a Dremel to it?

you need to make a new mount ( a piece of wood as a spacer works well)

just take the plastic mount for the speakers off behing the panel, and make a spacer (new mounting ring) out of mdf for the 6.5". Make sure to coat it with something to waterproof it, mdf soaks up water like no other. You could also make a mounting ring out of abs plastic to that is what I do.
