You could always install a toggle switch between 12v-always on and Ignition wire on the radio?

Kind of a neat factor but can be a pain in the ass too if you don't remember to switch it off :/ I installed one I purchased from radio shack. Didn't look half bad I thought? A little red LED too.

To maintain functionality with RAP you need GMCO harness at a minimum. If you have onstar and all that mess try a GMAH24 I believe? If you want to retain chimes through factory speakers then use a GMOS-01

The DIC will not "remember" the time once the vehicle is turned off. It retrieves that information from the stock head unit. No matter what you purchase this will happen.

It just doesnt display time and date any longer, any after market stereo has this anyway, its well worth it to get rid of the crappy factory stereo. Everything else is still there except the chimes

    avic-f700bt, this radio kicks ass!

the main reason people get the more expensive gmso4 or what ever its called is to be able to keep the onstar function

I havent used my DIC to display date and time anyway....dunno about the OS-4 but i'm installing the OS-2 in mine

Does the DIC complain about lack of date / time on start-up? my olds has been doing this since i did the swap, have to clear it out to see anything else on the DIC after each startup.

because ive got an aftermarket HU i have it scrolling song title instead of time - i was thinking of finding some kinda digital pod gauge and using that instead.

No errors about missing time, if you set the display to show the time and date though you will only see two small lines where the time used to be. pull the fuse for your radio and you will see what I mean.
