So I just purchased a MTX RT8PT (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236RT8P...RT8PT&skipvs=T). I just wanted a slight bass increase that was not too overwhelming. Has anyone installed something like this before to the stock head unit? If so, anything I need to know to make it easier? I bought an a extra amplifier connection cable because this does not come with one. I'm assuming this is just wired straight to the battery. Pardon my ignorance, but I am a noobie to car audio, so I am still learning.

My other question is, do I just splice this sub into the rear 6x9's? Or do I run a separate wire all the way to the head unit. Thanks for your help!

You can get an aux output for the factory head unit here: http://pac-audio.com/productSearch.a...28&Model=Grand Prix&ModelId=1569&Year=2005&YearId=16

That will prevent having to splice into the rear speaker wires, and makes for a cleaner install in my opinion.

I actually just purchased one of these.

So because I have this now, I should run the sub right to the head unit instead of splicing?

If I do this, will the sound only run through the AUX? Or will it run on radio/cd/etc.

There should be no splicing requred on the speakers. You will essentially want to run the setup the same as if you had an aftermarket head unit with outputs on it. The sound will run through both the speakers and amp simultaniously.

Only thing I'm slightly confused about is that I thought this adapter was strictly for auxiliary inputs, not for speakers. Does this adapter have somewhere on it that will connect to a sub and amp?
