Okay when i bought my 98 grand prix 3.8l i recieved four of the same key that i use only for the ignition. they do not work for the trunk i was wondering is there a seprate key for the trunk i need to have made or does the ignition key always work and there for mine must be broken. i hate having to use the button in the glove compartment its annoying sometimes.

You can get Keyfobs for cheap on ebay or from moradpartscompany.com.

Actually, I have a spare one for my 2002 GTP, lemme know if you want to try that route.

They changed fobs in 2001. So only one for a 97-00 will work.

I have had to program two keyfobs for my 98 gtp......I bought new OEM key fobs on ebay(about $25 each shipped.) You have to program each one......it is about six or seven steps. It literally takes about two or three minutes for the entire process. You have to pull a specific fuse and go through a couple of different steps........not to bad. I would fully recommend it. When I bought mine it did not come with a trunk key release(it was shaved and I see the metal plate that was welded in on the inside of the trunk) so I did not have a choice.

You should be able to press lock and unlock at same time until the horn sounds, then it should be synced again.
