thinkin about puttin a new deck in my 1998 gtp, been reading a few posts here and some people are having trouble with the factory system, because of a factory amp. just wondering if i will have problems , or will it be a straight foward install. how can i tell

I just did my girlfriend's 98 GP SE and it was a straight forward install. Did all the speakers at the same time as well and everything sounds great.

No problems with my 98 GTP, installed my Panasonic when I got the car, and recently upgraded to a Pioneer in dash 7" DVD, no problems!!

my 06 has to have that harness w/ the box on it. I been trying to get my alpine to work for 2 days now. first off I blowed a car fuse ( will pick up tomorrow ). I hooked up a speaker to the speaker wire off the HU, the house speaker played but for some reason, nothing from my internals. I hooked up my DVD HU and it plays fine, for some reason that box isant allowing it to go through with the alpine. looks like it will have to go to sound shop ... I'm ready to hear my new 1" kicker tweets ( replaced in place of factory tweets ) and 6.5 alpine speakers...I'll figure it out or run it to the shop tomorrow.

but my issues shouldnt have anything to do with ur 98, i'm just jaw jacking

I had to take mine to a sound shop cause I couldnt get my second HU to play, turns out my factory amps are "blown"...I dunno but I believe them cause I couldnt get it to work and I'm decent with car audio, they re-wired around the harness and straight wired to the speakers...sucks but I did have that issue with my factory amps, my dvd HU had no issues like this...its confusing. maybe I blowed the amps hooking up the alpine HU
