This is my first post, so if it is in the wrong place, forgive me. I have a 2007 Grand Prix and none of the lights from the radio down are working. The radio is working fine and is light up, but from there down is dark. Is there suppose to be lights in this area? Thanks for any help with this issue!

You may have a disconnect in the wiring in the back end of the center console. If your bulb is out on your shifter here is what I had to do to replace it.

OK I fixed it on my 2007 GXP. This is what you need to do. Go to your local Pontiac Dealer parts. Tell them that you want a bulb for your shift light. They will scratch their head, look at drawings and find it. It will cost you a whole 90 cents to buy. Ask them to print you out the drawing so you can see how the little bas^&$% is installed. Now the easy part is over. In your car on the drivers side of the center column, uncrew the underside of the side of the center colum to get part of the side off. You will see a small couple of wires with a connector. That leads to your little lightbulb. Reach under the column, scratching your wrists and hands and locate the end of the wires. You will feel and maybe see a plastic knob on the underside of the shifter. Grab it if you can and twist unlock it off. There on the top side of the plastic knob is your little burnt out bulb. Replace it, test it, then put the 3 screws back in using the torx wrench. All done. Good luck as it is a beast trying to get your hands in that little place. I could not figure out how to get better access. MJ

I have an 06 GXP and my shifter knob bulb was out too. I couldn't figure out how to get to it either. Luckily it was under warranty and the dealer did it. I know it's not any help, but I thought I'd add my two cents...lol
