Okay I know not another what sub/amp thread but I need help.

I know quite a bit about putting systems and and working on them but as far as good brands I am clueless. I am looking to put in a system in my 02 Sedan. I want to run 2 12" and one amp. I also want to spend as little as possible (I know a bad mix for car audio and low budget but I know it can be done.) I dont really want to be spending over 300 on it.

Here is a few things I looked at getting.

    Subs

MA Audio MA120QS 12" Component Subwoofers Car Subwoofers Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix
Infinity Reference 1250W 12" Component Subwoofers Car Subwoofers Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix
    Rockford Fosgate P1S412 Punch Stage 1 12" 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com
    Kenwood KFC-W3012 KFC Series 12" 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com
    Alpine SWE-1243 Type-E 12" single 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

    Amps

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono subwoofer amplifier 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com
Rockford Fosgate Prime R500-1 Mono subwoofer amplifier — 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com
Kenwood KAC-8104D Mono subwoofer amplifier 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield Outlet

I dont like any of these...and u can get great alpine type-r 12's 2ohm for like $89 bucks a piece on ebay. brand new. I know ur on a budget but what kind of sound are you expecting? nothing to make the mirrior move, I hope cause u wont get it from those listed above. I clicked on some of ur links, sorry but those subs SUCK! I looked at the rockford fosgate 12" and it said 50-150w RMS...??? U can get more bass out of a 6X9's ... Check ebay on some higher RMS subs man ...

o, we'll they have some great deals on there man, if u have paypal, u should hook up with ebay. I usually don't recommend anything i havent had myself but I've heard good things from alot of people with MTX subs as far as Best bang for your buck... I suggest the 12" alpine R-series, great subs, have dealt with them and the price is unbeatable for what your getting. of course with those speakers you'll need alot better amp. whatever you do, please don't go to wal-mart and get some sony xplodes, waste of money and time.

I think the infinity is crap, some ppl will beg to differ. my buddy had a inifinity and it wouldnt do jack. also the infinity was really light. U can tell a good sub by the magnet, if its a heavy sub, its probably going to be Ok. bigger/heavier magnet ='s good sub.

and those amps are amps that you would run on your internal speakers. but maybe you don't like as much bass as me??? It's hard to say what will satisfy other peoples tastes.

That MTX box is kind of on the thin side of things, you want atleast 3/4 MDF to really have a sturdy box to get the most out of the bass response. 5/8's will hold up, but I see it flexing more than 3/4 MDF would.

You are better off just shopping through eBay for similar, if not better components to make up your own subbox/woofer/amp setup. That's my honest opinion.

Can I get a better package through ebay for under 350?

Also other than the box is the amp + sub combo decent? I want quality. If it puts out a lot of bass, yay. If it puts out mild bass, great! I just want something that will last and add a little depth to my system.

Yes you can find better on Ebay. I will post back in a few with some links to some pretty good stuff in the price range you are seeking. Personally I would just go with 2 10's that is what I have in my setup. They give you more than enough to feel the beat, but wont kill your brain cells either. Also they tend to fit more nicely in your trunk than 12's or 15's would.

But that is just my opinion. Everyone has their own taste though

CRUNCH P1500.1 MONO 1500W POWERZONE CAR AMPLIFIER NEW - eBay (item 110406777813 end time Jul-24-09 10:42:42 PDT)

This Kenwood amp is a good one too, its cheap in price, but its sound quality is quite good! I am getting its bigger brother soon.

Kenwood KAC-X10D 1,200 Watts Mono Sub Power Amplifier - eBay (item 110406007154 end time Jul-02-09 15:24:15 PDT)

Not much on the subwoofer enclosures. The thing you want to remember is to look for 3/4 MDF board, that way the bass response is going to be realistic than say 5/8 MDF which will flex more and you will lose your sound.

I hope that gives you some idea of the ballpark in regards to money you want to spend. If you want 12's? Then just click on one of the 10's I have listed above and redo the search for the 12's and the same then would go for the subbox enclosure too.

    Good luck

Why are you going to use a 4ch amp to power a sub? I am sorry but that makes absolutely no sense. At least go with a mono or at worst a 2ch amp. But using a 4ch amp rated at 50watts is not going to do anything to move those speakers.

Yeah that is a good match, no arguments here. Crutchfield has always done me right too when I have purchased from them. But when someone is on a tight budget, you have to look to places like eBay for stuff sometimes. Granted you always need to be on the lookout for Refurb stuff. I have been lucky with refurb stuff so far off eBay without complaints. You just have to know what you are buying before you buy.
