I want to get a new reciever for my car. I was planning on a Soundstream VIR-6500T but its a double din touch screen rather than the 1/2 din that gm was stupid enough to make. Anybody have the dimensions for this reciever and if there is a way I could fit it with in there.

Also wanted to know which wiring harness would I use to since I do have bose and not onstar and want to keep the factory chimes and all that other stuff.

it will require some cutting and fabbing to fit. Get the PAC, Soundgate or Periphial adapter for the bose especially if you plan on keeping it

The best thing to do especially if you've never done any fabbing before is to get another dash piece and practicing on that first. You can use stuff like moldable plastic to do any fill-ins after you make your cuts, the one thing to stay away from is the bondo body filler it doesn't really adhere to plastic all that well.

You make shavings off of an ABS plastic sheet then mix it with some Acetone and you get a paste that you can mold

Ohhhhhh, now arent you the smart one. You need to do a mini How To on that process so we can preserve that idea for all others. I dont think I can get ABS sheets around here. Heck, sometimes I feel lucky I can just get sheets here, LOL. But I can get ABS pipe. Would that work?

Haven't tried it with ABS piping but I don't see why not. I'll try to write one soon.

Cool, just post up the details and any pics in the How To area and we will convert them over to the permanent How To section.
