I've read a few other threads about the HUD having a broken spring.

My HUD is working and I had to lower my seat an inch or two and I can see it on the windshield.

I've already had it apart and I found the motor to adjust the mirror was unplugged. The springs for the mirror are intact from what I could see unless I was looking in the wrong place - some of the embedded images were missing. Is the motor a common failure? I plan to take it out again and do more of a bench test (wiring directly to the motor pigtail to see if I can get the thing to move.)

So I found out after bench testing that the actual HUD switch below the instrument cluster is broken!

The small plastic welds broke off and thusly the switch is now toast. I don't think that's going to be easily repairable as it'll be under tension most of the time...

I think I'll try posting a Wanted ad, I looked around at some wreckers and alas, I found none with a HUD from that generation...

Hah! I found one on eBay!

$17. I hope it actually works when I get it.

Yep, I can move the HUD now. New switch fixed it.
