to put 6.i inch component speakers in the door versus 5.25's...I would like more front stage....Can anyone recommend some decent ones of either size under 90 dollar...Cruchfield has a set of Memphis Audio 15-SRX6C that are opened, or scratched for a good discount...Any ideas..The ones in my doors now are junk... I'm using some 6.5 infinity components. Had to trim the housing some to modify them to fit, but not bad. They sound great compared to what was there. That being said, I got them for $10 at the junkyard (someone messed up not seeing those there). I never buy audio equipment new personally. I always use facebook marketplace or craigslist. Someone is always going broke and needing money or just upgrading because they want something better. That's just my 2 cents though.

Can't talk about cheap... Unless picked up used as noted above. It's like modding the car to begin with, you don't get "good" with "cheap"... They are mutually exclusive!

I'm running Boston acoustic separates in the front, infinity kappa in the rear, kicker amp and audiophile head unit that is amazing! But it wasn't cheap, and it didn't break the bank either

    Good luck with your search!

Well my bank budget is about $100 for the fronts at this time...Give or take a couple of dollars...Options im considering..
    1. A better set of 5.25 coaxial....
    2. A set of 5.25 Separates..
    3. A set of 6.5 Coaxial...
    4. A set of 6.5 Separates..

I dont mind a little door hacking....Just want a bit louder (and better sounding) Fronts....Not always in the car, some times I listen in the Drive, or the beach....Im old, and my hearing is not what it used to be, so top shelf stuff makes no sense to me....Thanks for any input on this guys...

I should have some pictures on my home computer. All I did was cut the "collar" on the door piece, use a dremel tool to cut back the hole diameter and then run some screws down and it fit like stock. Nothing fancy. It will depend on the dimensions of the rear of your speaker that will determine how much you have to cut. I'll try to post some pics later.

I had a set of pioneers that were cheap components and I noticed a huge difference in the highs and the soundstage when I switched to the infinities. You should be able to pick up some cheap ones local on craigslist for that. Though, I've had some really good luck with the junkyard before. I even found a set of mbquart z series in there once. Just look for the ricer cars with "go-fast" stickers and fake looking stuff on them. They're usually the ones with good speakers strangely.

Louder isn't always better... And sometimes louder is inversely proportional to quality. I don't think you're going to get "quality" separates for the front for $100 unless used. I think my Boston Acoustics were on sale at Crutchfield when o got them and they still tipped the scale at $150... For real quality the crossovers aren't going to be junk and the speakers will have some decent mags.
