I'm a fan of the stock unit personally. Haven't had any issues and I was at -6 yesterday!could just be going bad. I've got a ton of extra radios lying around.
Took about 10 minutes for my stock radio in my 98 to do anything useful this morning it was about 10 degrees out. To make things better my climate controls won't respond either till the car gets warm.

slow bones in the 04 here when cold.
I dont even bother with the radio untill the temp is past the quarter mark and its been that way for 20 minutes.
Last thing I want to do is hum alongs when I'm freezing my sack off. Drowning out the cold weather noise from the car is always welcome I suppose.
I've started my GP at -53 F, and the only thing that was slow or sluggish were the physical knobs of the HVAC system. They had quite a bit of resistance, and it took some force to turn the knobs.
They weren't frozen, I know what that feels like. Just surprisingly difficult to turn.
We only had -18 F this am and i noticed the same thing with the HVAC knobs. My radio and all lights work though. A little low on power steering fluid though and she really whines!
