Fan blower works great on all speeds except number 5 (highest). When I turn it to #5 it turns off, but then about 2-8 seconds later it turns back on on speed 5. So, there is some sort of delay there. Thinking it's a switch or solenoid somewhere. Any ideas?

Normally it's to do with the blower motor resistor.

I fought with my 03 winter beater/spare car's blower fan until I finally cut the wires at the fan, pulled key on power from fuse box, and ran wires to a simple toggle switch that I jammed between the glove box and center part of the dash. Pretty?...No. Adjustable speed?...No. (I tried to find a dial 12V resistor at like radio shack, but they didn't have it, so I gave up on that) Functional enough to defrost/heat/ and A/C ?...Yup.
For the record : I am NOT a naked meth-head who shoves rocks up my butt.

99.9% of the time it's the resistor, but it's not RadioShack resistor.

Okay I just replaced the resistor with this part (http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....359345&jsn=419) but it still does the same thing! Everything works, except on high speed it takes about 8-12 seconds to turn on the fan... Any ideas???

Could it be the Blower Switch? I'm looking at RockAuto and that's the only other thing I see related to the blower motor other than the motor itself... (http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....0487&jsn=10487)

You're going to have to some diagnosis. Test the power output at the plug to see what happens. If power is going to the fan properly then you may have a faulty/dying fan motor.

    I've had a breakthrough...

I don't know why I didn't try this before. When I turn it to 5 (all the way up) and tap the knob or hit the knob the fan starts on full speed immediately! This leads me to believe it's the blower switch. Perhaps a short somewhere. Any objections or thoughts?

I replaced the blower motor resistor but was still having problems. It wound up being my ignition switch. If your day time running lights are out as well this is your culprit.
