Got in 04 Impala SS. It has Kenwood speakers front and back with the tweeters on the speakers. Factory amp and factory stereo and on star. Bought the car this way.

My problem is the bass fades in and out. It'll sound great then it sound like its in mono not stereo. I've read it could be a crap amp. I also read that with the tweeters on the speakers that the wire on them should be cut and I hook the highs wire to the tweeter positive and the lows wire to the speaker positive. What do I do with the negative side?

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

From my research, the amp also acts as a crossover. The speaker connector in the door should have 4 wires. 2 for the speaker and 2 for the tweeter. Maybe the kenwood wasnt wired correctly.

Right so with these kinds of speakers, ones with tweeters attached, there are 4 wires on the speaker but the 2 for the tweeter get attached to the speaker. The car only has 2 wires.

That may need some splicing. The car should have 4 wires. The tweeter and the cone should be seperate and the amp is sending highs directly to the tweeter and lows to the cone. So you need both high and low to come on where the cone was.

I just went thru speaker replacement on my GXP, the rears were difficult to wire in using the factory amp. I would think on your car since it comes and goes they are probably wired correctly, but maybe check the wiring for loose connections. You didn't say if this happens in the front or rear, I'm guessing its the rear 6 x 9. This is a decent thread about wiring the rears. Good luck, post back your findings.
