Hummmm you answered your own question about the Pos/Neg.

Unless you have aftermarket wiring setup for your speaker wire, you are going to need adapters to be able to hook up your new speakers, or cut off the cuppler at the end of the factory wiring, which I DONT recommend to make them work.

    Just to let you know.

Best places to find them is at a Best Buy or maybe your local Audio Shop. I am not sure of the part number to check on eBay for them, but they are pretty easy to find.

i feel so smart and useful lol, I just removed the factory harness from the stock speakers and soldered them onto my new JBL's using some lead wires and it works great. (if anyone cares i can post pics)

Gotta say didnt realize how much had to come out of the back in order to get to TWO speakers, HOLY CRAP!

I guess cause cars are shrinking and the old 6x9's we are accustom to are no longer able to fit in the shoe boxes we call cars now a days. Pretty soon you will see Audio setups with 6 tweeters and 2 5" speakers

Also given the fact I can't afford any of their products, I would have never known they didn't make or had quit making 6x9's

I attribute it towards better design and SQ expectations that doesn't correlate with 6x9 speakers. 6x9's do not have the capability to reproduce sounds accurately due to their physical dimension.

Also, America's SQ/Audiophile companies are pretty much gone. Go check out SQ oriented head units. Alpine has one, Pioneer has one, Clarion stopped making theirs and Blaupunkt MIGHT release a north american version. That leaves Nakamichi and another I can't remember, both imported. The latter two don't have processing capacities needed for an SQ oriented installation.

If you're looking at home markets, the very high end is imported from Europe and Asian markets. That leaves the DIY base. I can't say I've seen any installations using 6x9's on DIYMA.com or car stereo shops building for sq competitions.

Maybe some of those companies CAN make good and accurate 6x9's but I've never heard them :/

I think our markets are falling apart. (sigh).

I would agree 100% with that assertion that our car audio market has taken dive. Ever since companies like Rockford and some of the more known brands that use to be made in the US, they have since sent all their work overseas and the quality had tanked.

I think 6x9's are the poor man's excuse for replacing actual subwoofers. That's my own personal opinion on that one. I do enjoy my Memphis Audio MClass 6x9's. I got one of the last few sets made that had the swivel tweeter in them. The new MClass 6x9's have the tweeter in a "fixed" position.

Does or did Nakamichi ever make true car stereo equipment? I honestly can't ever recall seeing them in that market? I know in home audio they are one of the kings for sure.

    :: Nakamichi ::

It's flash based but choose "In Car Entertainment" at the top.

my 6x9's have a tweet i can swivel which is nice, they sounds great, but im still adding a sub, I HATE seeing people with 6x9's in a box. That to me is poor mans sub. if its deck mount then its not your fault.

So........if I would like to keep the stock setup and decent sound it sounds like the best way to go is to get some infinity 6x9's out of a chrysler/dodge and swap them in? They are a direct fit? Do they fit in the enclosure and just clip into the factory harness? Anyone know what years I should be looking for on these speakers?

ive got aftermarket speakers in mine and you cant even tell, the factory plastics cover them completely.

all i did was de solder the factory harness from the stock speakers and atach it to my new ones then its just a matter of plug and play

I know that I can do that, but I would like to keep it plug and play if possible. If it is not then I will upgrade. My stocks sound terrible at anything other than low bass levels. I just want to put something in there that will sound good with the rest of the stock system. Any suggestions on speakers? I personally have used infinity kappa components in the past, but infinity kappa's(short of their subs) have no bass. Excellent clarity, but no bass. What can I put in here that has decent bass(for a stock system.) Is this where the factory infinity comes in?

I bought 6.5's and 6x9 alpines before I came on R&R. I'm dying to put it in with my new alpine 9887 HU but weather was really bad today ... I did manage to pick up my GSXR tags today
