I just bought an '06 GP, and I'm having some issues with the remote key fobs.

I've replaced the battery in one of them, and supposedly the previous owner replaced the battery in the other one.

However, they hardly ever work. I have to be right next to the car, and even then I'll have to push the unlock button 7 or 8 times before it works.

I've taken it apart, cleaned it with DEOXIT, and still have problems.

Has anyone else had similar issues, and if so what did you do?

    thanks

Maybe the contacts under the buttons are worn. Try putting little pieces of foil between the buttons and circuit board to help with conductivity.

Two things happen. Like said the buttons wear out. Auto parts stores sell just the case now and it comes with a case and buttons and you just put your circuit board inside.

The other thing that happens is the battery holder becomes partially desoldered from the board.

You can buy replacement fobs on amazon for around $15 a pop, not sure if 04+ GP's allow user programming of fobs without a special tool though.

I'd just buy new fobs personally....

Ah, shame. Seems silly, when older models have a simple programming procedure through the factory radio.

Yes these are prone to the connections being broken due to crap solder. than like other have said check the pads, you can get a replacement case and still use your "guts" so you don't have to reprogram. As long as the contacts board side are in good shape you may just need the pad connections.

Also at the parts store they may have a device to test your remote. I have a similar problem with my 97, however I can confirm it isn't the remote. I can get the tester to light up green from a very acceptable distance.
