Does anyone have a diagram for the stereo wiring harness? Specifically I need to know what wire is constant 12v and what one is accessory; I assume red and yellow respectively but I am trying to avoid doing something stupid. I've looked and can't find one. Thank you

if your swapping the radio, they sell a plug that goes to the factory radio harness, all the wires are marked on the new pig tail. this way you dont butcher up the factory harness and can put the stock unit back in with ease.

Scotty, I'm not switching head units, but thank you.
Simbah, perfect thank you. So it looks like there is in fact no 12v accessory wire running to the stereo at all. Good info to have, but does anyone know where to find an easily accessible 12v accessory wire?

add a fuse from the fuse box is how most of use do it, there is also a power drop under the dash, some cars theres one behind the glove box, others its up in the d/s dash.

Thanks, I'll go hunting in the dash, I've already got it torn apart anyways. I didn't want to splice into the fuse box if it wasn't necessary. I'm not going to be drawing much power off the circuit. Just didn't want to have constant power out.

You're not splicing anything. You go to a parts store and buy a thing called add-a-fuse. It literally plugs into the fuse box and has a wire coming out. You just have to choose which hole to use.

Just googled these and was blown away, I had no idea they existed. Sorry for the million questions folks, but this is all new to me. How would I wire one to be 12v accessory? Do you just pick an already existing one and plug through? Does this put load on that system or does it create its own new circuit? Any recommendations on what ones to buy/ avoid?

depends on what you need, full time power or ignition on only power.

i got one in my wiper fuse, its a key on power only fuse. i got my amp on signal, two gauges and a relay for my ic pump off just one add a fuse. i do have in line fuses for each item tho.

I need power the same as the stereo, that's why I was looking there. Powered on accessory but once the key is out it only stays on for a set time or until the door is open. I didn't want to go off the cigarette lighter power as it's always live. Any recommendations as what to hook up to?

the radio fuse should stay on key off until it times out like the radio does.

So then is the power into the stereo 12v constant?

there should be, as it has a memory to keep the presets and time.

take a test light and touch the fuse's key off till you find one with power, use that fuse.

I used a relocation harness for my radio, which meant that I had to supply 12v to turn on the new headunit. I used the sunroof fuse, but you could use the power window fuse as well as both run off of the RAP module.

At this point I'm on the interior lights fuse, it's constant power but everything is up and running; just needed to make sure it worked. I picked up the mini fuse unit and it says it's not able to go over 10A is it going to be ok to plug into the sunroof fuse? I don't have a sunroof in mine so it's not drawing any power I guess.

I used my sunroof as a turn on plus it stays on with the wraps. there shouldn't be almost none if any draw from a remote turn on. Check the specs of your headunit for the draw on main power.
