ok. Just bought a totalled silverado SS. Gonna put the motor and driveline in my 07 sierra 1500 SLT. Gonna sc eventually but thats a convo for another day and a different website. Anywho the factory 5.3 will be coming out. Is this physically the same motor as the GXP or will i need to modify? I think it should b the same but does anyone know for sure. Im thinking if anything I might need a different flywheel to mate to the 4t65 but i honestly have no idea. Just hoping i dont have to shorten crankshafts and crap like that.

You need google in your life.

Putting a 5.3 from a Silverado in your GP is like saying this Nissan 2.0 will work in my Cobalt, because it's a 2.0.

Regular 5.3s have standard bellhousing which isn't compatible to the metric pattern all the fwd motors have. So there not combative block wise. Internally everything can be swapped if you wanted to

im pretty sure the subframe from an 04+ will fit, I had a 97 and was going to do the swap, I do engine work for a GM dealer and bought a core out of a 06 impala ss, but I sold my 97 and bought a 04 gtp and dont want to change out the 3800(love my supercharger)! anyways, I think you can get a harness made from Painless, but im not sure, I was just going to make one, anywho if anyone needs a ls4 i have one

Local parts yard here has an 08 Malibu SS with the 5.3 in it. They wanted 850 for engine tranny and subframe but that would have been a pull and pay type deal so no shipping so 800 for the motor only shipped sounds pretty accurate.
