So I am looking at possibly getting an 07 GXP. 136k miles, the dealer said the trans looks new.

I am curious, what should I look for? Most common issues?

The trans on this, is it 3.29 or 2.93? (Just curious about that part.)

I have heard a lot about a trans cooler and shift kit. What do these normally run installed?

    Any insight would be helpful!

Looks new and IS new are two totally different things.

I can make a lot of things look new with cleaning.

Stock gearing seems it's a mile apart, pretty sure it's just 2.93's though...Comp G had the 3.29's. My built trans from TEP is getting 3.69's.

As for the shift kit, a built trans will have those. The thing I'd be more worried about is the DoD still being active and the fact that thing probably is eating oil at that mileage.

Front hubs are common just like the other WBody's...drive by wire throttle bodies gunk up, and are an easy fix for better pedal feel and MPG's/sticky throttle. Power steering pumps are always taking a crap, but they're pretty easy to change.

Alrighty. So why do they eat oil around that mileage? And what happens to the DoD?

All that oil just sits in the pistons that are shut down during DoD cruise...if the car puffs blue smoke at start up or is losing oil during oil changes but you're not physically losing it on the ground anywhere, then it's a tall tail sign that it's getting burnt up. Common problem not just the 5.3 LS4 cars, but especially in the DoD trucks. If it's gotten to that point, then I'd suggest a re-ring of the motor...or at the minimum run thicker oil and have the DoD turned off via a tune.

Alright, I gotchya. Makes sense. Well that black GXP was a flop. Poopy condition and was leaking oil somewhere lol. Wasn't about to mess with that so I walked away

I looked for a buddy of mine in Michigan around Grand Rapids and there were a few decent looking examples for under $10k...it's still a good price, considering...all of them had under 90k miles too, if I remember right.

These two sure don't look half bad, then again this was just two seconds looking lol...and Michigan isn't a small state, ha.
