So yesterday while playing around with the car. My friend and I was racing down the freeway and I got up pretty high in speed. Once we pulled over at his house and let the car sit, we came back out and my car smelled like rotten eggs and such. So I got up in speed again and got home and the smell was back again. My mechanic friend said he truly believes my CATS are all clogged up. Here are my questions:

    1. Is this possible? I never had a car with clogged CATS.
    2. What clogs a CAT?
    3. How do I fix this issue?
    4. What does clogged cats affect?

Little background info. I normally run ONLY premium gas, I have put mid grade in once or twice. I put Seafoam in the car a while ago and I noticed nothing extra from it. Any help will be appreciated.

you have one cat. high miles, or running rich can cause it to clog up.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Okay, I am at 95k miles at this time... How do I fix this? Seems like I read removing the cat will make the car much louder...

95,000 seems low for a clogged cat. unless you've been riding around with a cel for the rear o2 sensor, and its been running pig rich.

typically you would change the cat, or buy a new catted down pipe.

removing it wont make it much louder if at all. but if you do delete it, you'll have a check engine light on for it, and would need to have it tuned to not report, and then theres state inspections, if that applies to you.

Think a warranty would cover it being that you have less than 100k??

I thought GM's warranty in cars where something like 7 years or 70K IIRC call the dealer and verify its been years since I had my original one replace underwarranty
