my brothers got a stock z06 cam from a vette. he found out it puts some spring in the smaller engines step.

he may want to sell it due to his girl wont let he tear the engine open to swap the cam in his yukon. pretty sure hes got the valve springs as well.

Z06 cams work better on 5.7l and above you will want to have pat g get your info and spec out a cam just Google his name it'll come up. And lots of tuning will be required if I were you I'd start with external bolt ons and work from there you'd be surprised how well this car will respond

Have you gone over the Intake and Exhaust on your car? If you have not swapped out the LS4 intake mani and stock downpipe/exhaust, putting a bigger cam in is going to cause more frowns than smiles.

    Misinformation: check.

Cam will only hurt MPG's if you have someone who can't tune for sh1t.

I netted better MPG's with my cam(s) because they allowed the car to flow more efficiently. This isn't 1960 anymore.

My cam was choppy as hell.

Lower lobe separation angles tend to do that.

My car saw over 30~ on the highway. Get a cam, get some exhaust mods, delete the DOD, get a wideband...have it custom tuned...in car.

    Read through this
    5.3 with Z06 cam N/A?
Also keep in mind if you want the z06 can that means new non dod lifters might as well get new valve springs gaskets and to be on the safe side new timing set and get oil pump while you're at it. That's a nice chunk of change and not to mention you'll want the after market heads or have your 243's ported all that with our garbage stock manifolds....better get headers and a ls6 intake to utilize the combo efficently.....see where I'm going with this? If I were you start with supporting mods like maf tb intake headers tune the **** out of it and work your way in the engine from there

I'm doing a overkill for now from marines, until I can build up some extra $$$$ to get a cam and in-car tune. And I'm going to do a custom 3inch exhaust and dod is going bye bye. But on a side not if I just barely push the pedal and get to around 35-40 it gaps the tb and drops tone like no other is that the dod kicking in? If so I like the tone it puts off!!!!

    Probably.

    Don't know.

Only driven a GXP once; almost died because I'm ADD as **** and was watching the HUD the entire time.

just talked to my brother. his words were, i have no attachment to the cam. lol

he has the cam, stock springs, and the timing gears and chain, with get this, 1900 miles. thats right, nineteen hundred miles. call it all brand new if you will.

said its all yours for 150.00 plus shipping and 3% pay pal. this was all out of a 03 zo6.

he has recently seen just the cam and springs bought by a member on his Yukon board for 250. and every one said that he got a good deal. so he feels its more then a fair price.

let me know, ill get you in touch with him directly. no need for me to be a middle man lol

a link he sent me to post, first post shows a dyno graph, made 332 hp with all stock heads and manifolds, was in a truck. 5.3

    5.3 z06 cam Update Dyno Graph - S-10 Forum

and one running on a stand lol
