Hey, i have a 2005 gp gxp v8 and im trying to run the 1/4 mile at the track pretty soon. I know this may sound dumb, but are you suppose to floor it off the line or feather on it for the best time?? Also, should traction control be on or off? When its off, it burns out and im sure you lose time there. But when its on, the power cuts out. They say this car should run it in about 14.2 stock. Im trying to hit that so any ideas would be great!! Thanks

Left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas...... You'll want to give a bit of throttle before launching so when the 3rd amber lights up you can take your foot off the brake and ease into it from there..... Other wise you'll break loose.

I like to race with NO TCS. If you launch right it doesn't matter because your tires shouldn't be spinning..... If you break loose and have TCS on you will prolly do better because the car will cut power to stop the spinning. If you turn off the TCS, it's quite possible that you could spin 1 tire for a good 500 feet. I like to know that the car isn't going to correct any mistakes I make at the dragstrip, but however you want to run is up to you.

if you feel the tires slip... get off the gas a bit till you feel it get traction then get back in it.

If you floor it off the line..... you will end up smoking the tires. feather it!

I leave my car in 3rd. Left foot on the brake right foot on the pedal preloading to 2000rpm. TCS off because i don't like it cutting spark. When that 3rd amber drops im gone. Then after about 30mph i stand on the pedal. You just gotta find your sweet spot to know when you will or will not break the tires loose. The key is to get the most throttle out of the hole that you can without breaking them loose then knowing when to put it down.
