    not the same
the gxp is a 5.3 LS4. its basically an ls2 with a v6 bolt battern for the trans. the 5.3 in the envoy is an LM4. i belive the trans in the envoy is the 4l60 e. now the 4l60e is one of the most versitile trans in gm's inventory. its been used in everything from the 3.5 I5 colorado to vettes. there might be an adapter out there to bolt the 4l60 to the LS4.

Ok finally found some info. It looks like it's a LH6. Looks like its what replaced the LM4. They added active fuel management to the LH6.
