I have a 2006 GXP with 96,000 miles. I just replaced a knock sensor from a PO327 code. But now when the car is cold and when I try some heavy acceleration the car appears to quit for a split second. If I leave the throttle down it gets kind of violent but as long as I relieve the gas pedal the car is ok under normal accelerating conditions. Also as a side note the cruise control does not work. Now this all goes away when the car gets up to normal operating temperature, the car will then accelerate normally with my foot to the floor and the cruise control works fine. Sometimes it starts working normally while driving and at other times when I turn the car off and back on but it always within a few minutes after the car is up to operating temperature. Help!

well first off, you shouldnt ever do heavy accleration when the motor is cold. I bet the computer is kicking to try and stop from doing harm to the car.

And that prolly go's with the cruise control, I bet its set in the computer to not let it work untill the cars warmed up.

I'm not talking about putting my foot on the floor just mild acceleration that the car should be able and has handled in the past. Somehow the cruise control is tied to this, the light on the dash will illuminate for a split second then go out.

Cruise control isn't tied to temperature in the ECM/TCM. I would completely unseat and reseat the ECM/TCM connectors and see if there are any loose wires.

Thanks for the suggestion, but after observing some more I noticed that the car in the morning even though it goes into gear the Drivers Info Center where it displays what gear the shift lever is in would show something other then drive. Yesterday it showed it was in neutral yet the shift lever was in drive and I was driving the car, but more importantly the car thought it was in nuetral so the ECM module limits the RPM to 3500, so when I try and take the car over 3500RPM it cuts out, just as though I was sitting in the driveway in park. So now I just have to find the sensor responsible for sticking and not reading the shift lever position.

Think you are looking at other issues besides shift lever position. Fairly certain it would pretty hard for drive to show up as neutral or vice versa. You can check though, the switch is in the center console its a mechanical contact iirc. I'd guess you have bigger issues though, bad tcm maybe.

IIRC your PNP is internal in your year. Meaning, it's inside the trans.

Probably would have helped to have read them. I was on the same thoughts until he said he knew what was causing it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will swap out the gear shift sensor and see what happens. Things are rarely easy but hopefully I'll catch a break. I'll let you know the results.

Just hoping you dont have to pull the transmission out just to change the PRNDL Gear position sensor.
It is definetly inside the transmission though.

Ok I figured out why the engine was quitting. When I hit 3500RPM the engine cut out, and that's because it was not showing in gear at the DIC (old news) but I hit a deer had some damage to the front end, after the car came back from the autobody shop I have had no more issues. So I'm still not sure what happened but the car is fixed.

Very odd! Makes me think it was something electrical since he probably disconnected the battery. I want to go thank him but I'm afraid he might want to charge an extra fee.
