my mufflers are rusting out and having holes in them causing my car to be louder, I use to like the loudness now not so much, and was wondering if by putting the mufflers from a gt on my gxp if it will quiet it down or if thats even possible. also is there something I could do to increase my gas mileage it's not doing so good and I don't beat on my car a lot and I drive 14 miles one way to work everyday.. don't get why the mileage sucks, unless it's from the hole in muffler and the fact my back tires are directional and the front aren't? could that have an affect on anything other then the fact the back ones hum

You can put pretty much any muffler on your car, as long as the inlets are the same, and you weld them up. A shop can do that for dirt cheap.

No idea how many miles are on the car, but when gas mileage sucks, its a good idea to do a good tune-up.

    New:
    Air-filter
    Fuel-Filter
    Oil Filter
    Oil Change
    Spark Plugs
Plug wires (if theres any phyiscal damage)
    and clean out MAF.

If the rear tires are directional, and they are facing the wrong way...that's no good...you need to get them turned around.

But as long as the tires are all inflated to the recommended pressure (typically 30-32psi) then that wont be killing the gas mileage.

Do a quick little tune up, and your mpg should jump up a bit.

You can increase your gas mileage on your car with the K&N intake. I used to get 15.3 in city and now I get 19.5 all day every day, it has more than paid for itself.

Claiming over 4 mpg's from an intake is crazy on these cars...you probably had a very dirty air filter as well.

I just know what I was getting compared to what I have been getting since the swap, nothing else has been changed on the car.....I dont know what caused it to be better but I know what GXP's average in the city(15-16) stock and now mine has been at 19.5 for the longest time after the intake. If that is what made it better I dont know but its been better since then.

    Here goes this again...

LS motors like higher octane...its an all aluminum V8...they run better on a higher octane, proven. You saying you can't afford the expensive gas is rediculous. Premium is no more than a quarter a gallon more than low grade 87...so every fill up...that's what...an extra 5 bucks?

Like stated before...new plugs/wires/air filter/o2's...these cars are just like any other car...they need to be maintained and if you let it go...it'll get crap MPG's...stuff will start breaking...etc.

All cars like Premium...Ls motors computer programs will adjust to lower oct after the SRT codes read in the computer. The AFMs and timing is adjusted to compensate for it.. I run 85 oct( thats my states low grade) and I get 19 to 21 in the city.. and 32 on hwy... only time I run 91 or higer is when I engage my program and run Nos...Also our plugs (stock) are rated for 100k before the change...
