I own a 2005 Grand Prix GXP and the temperature gauge is always reading incorrectly. I have plugged a scanner into the car and it shows the cars coolant temp at ~195, which is the stock thermostat temp.

What could be causing my temperature gauge to be reading very low.

About 1/2 way to the middle? Any ideas?

The gauge is reading about 1/2 way? That should be right, unless it has numbers on it?

It's half way to the half way point. That was worded poorly!

1/4 of the way up the gauge.

The gauge in my 98 GrandPrix 3800 reads half of what it should also. I replaced the 3 wire coolant temp sender, and thermostat, with no change, except a $50 lighter wallet. My code reader shows that the ECU says the temp is normal operating temp also. I think there is an issue with the gauge cluster but I dont know. Maybe there is a resistor in line or something. Not a clue. I too would like to know what the issue is.
