IIRC the PO741 is the trans speed sensor, no? I had that code on my 01 Aurora. It would set off the check engine light and the car would slam into 3rd gear. However, when I cleared that code the trans would run fine for two or three weeks until it threw the code again. I think it was the sensor's wiring harness because once I uplugged it and then plugged it back in and I got a few months without the problem. I finally solved the problem by selling it. Do you have any problems with the trans shifting badly?

Well it was being sluggish at times then alittle shakey before going into gear then at times it would run just fine then at other times it would just be sluggish then kind of slam into the next gear.

Well when I took the car to the dealer on monday they told me that it was a torque converter issue and that i would take a day and a half to fix.

But then tuesday they called me and told me that it appeared that someone had worked on the car before and asked if i was the one that had the worked performed but i have only had the car for two months and aside from an oil change and having gas put in it there has been nothing done to it. well they asked me where i bought it from trying to track down who had the work performed and what exactly had been done because something wasn't done correctly.

    Wednesday no news.

Thursday I called them to ask how my car was and they asked me what car it was and they asked me if it was the one they had to order the transmission for and at this point i was under the impression it was just the t.c. malfuctioning. then they told me that they had a transmission on order for it and that it would be a bit till it arrived then a day to put it in. Tranny should be in monday. Thank god for the warantee is all i can say!

Friday they called and said that i should be prepared to turn the rental car in because GM wouldn't pay them back for it for more than 5 days of rental for one service job. and they they may be able to get seven days out of it because they had to order the tranny.

As it stands right now i'm not giving back the rental till my car is fixed .

Fixed! Got it back today she has 37K mi. They said that when they opened up the tranny that it was full of metal debris. They replaced the whole thing. So glad the warantee covered it or else I would have had a 4000 dollar bill.

mine did the exact same thing but it wouldnt reproduce the problem at the dealership so they havnt done anything about it yet.

i just got my gxp back for the same thing but my tranny died at 70k. but my story is way different the warranty company didn't want to fix it because they said it was something else that was causing the problem (some kind of wiring issue i thought it was bull anyway), the dealer ship said they fought with the company to fix it, but it took them 2 months to do it , but to make matters worse they sent the wrong tranny, so they to send it back for another one. thank God that it was covered by the warranty.

it is the torque convertors that kill our trans. the metal pieces in the trans was from that. found what i have heard from the trans coolers is they arre cheap but not easy to install and are well worth it.
