Hey! This is my first post and looks like a great forum. I'm looking at a 2006 GXP with 80,000 miles listed for $11500. I'm going to be a senior in HS this year and need it to last me through college, so at least 5 years. I just sold a truck that I had for two years and put about 12,000 miles on it. And I haven't looked at it in person yet cause the seller is out of town. So what do you guys think about the mileage and reliability? I really want a gxp and this is the best I can find under $15000 around here but I want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Thanks!

That price seems high to me for the millage. Have u verified the price against Kelly Blue Book and NADA. Also try expanding your search range. It seem that depending on the part of the country your in these cars very extemely in price.

Yeah...midwest is kinda broad if you ask me But I'm partial...I live there lol GXP's are great cars for what they are IMO...I drove one and it rode a lot better than my GTP...but I like the availability of aftermarket support that the LS4 (5.3 liter V8) cars lack...

Yeah its pretty much on par with KBB and NADA.

Actually I live in KC suburbs. so kinda close to you. And the GXP ive found is in butler MO. Ive done cars.com searches for 250mi and havent found much more. But I did find one I like in North Carolina lol.. My parents are the only thing holding me back on how far we will go to buy one. I love cars so I would go anywhere to get what I want. And I havent driven one yet but sat in a few and started them at some dealers around here and REALLY liked them but they were all newer and more $$$.

I think the price is a little too high. Talk him down....
Kelly BB should be asking around $12,200 for 50,000 miles in a 2006 GXP.
What does it come with? Navigation, Touch Screen, HUD, Monsoon?
    Anyways the car is AMAZING!!!!

price may seem a little high but you can probably talk him down to 10500 maybe if cash in hand... As far as reliability it all depends on the first owner and how he cared for the car Miles are a bit high. But it all goes back to the origenal owner id check for any repair and general care papers he may have for the car.

I just bought my 98 gtp in early may with 178000 on it havent had any real isues with it and ive put some hard miles on her already almost 5000
Yet ive bought cars with 40000 miles on them and had them give out at 50000

Just check over any car you pick really well and you should be fine.

98 gtp sedan forest green ,S1X intense cam,Intense pcm,Magnaflow exhaust, ubend delete,TEP trans 3.29's,3.4 smoothflow mps,Dyno'd 281hp and 371ft #'s of trq at the wheels

FWIW there is a REALLY nice GXP at Gladstone Dodge that is that dark cherry red metallic color and they are asking 14K for it...I think it is a '07 and has like 30K on it. Every option too...

Yeah I saw that one last week but its gone now and I didn't get a chance to look at it. At least its not on cars.com anymore, I'll have to check their website.
Ok well I'll have to look at it and see what I think. And search a little more. Thanks for the help sofar!

Engines have been strong. Few tranny issues seems to be similar MO to most Grand prix's really.

Ok we looked at it and drove it last night and really liked it. It had everything except nav and leather(which I didn't even know gxps came without) but since it is a gxp and can probably get a good deal I'll be fine with cloth. It was his wifes commuter car and she drove about 70 mi each way to work! So it really is mostly highway miles. The left rear fender had been brushed up against something and was repainted but didn't look the best in sunlight. But my dad though we could probably buff it out.. It was a ton faster than my 02 S10 v6.. Um. The front tires have about 10,000mi on them and the backs will need to be replaced pretty soon.. Other than that it was great.. We are going to look at a couple other vehicles tonight..

If you end up with the GXP talk them down...epcesially since it has been damaged...and needs new tires. Should be able to walk away with it for around 10K if not less...if you know how to play the game.

I would love to only pay 10 for it! That would only be a $600 difference to make up between selling my truck and buying this.. And the next cheapest one I can find is listed for 15k. But I still want to drive a trailblazer or explorer to see if I would rather have one of those, yes ik those two are totally different from the gxp but I do live in the country and work on my familys farm so an suv might be the better choice. Who knows..
Also has anyone on here done a blackbear tune on their gxp's? Or gt's too I guess.
