I just purchased a 06 GXP and heard that I should use premium gas. Should I use the higher octance or is regular ok. What octane gas to most people the V8 use? Thanks

Welcome. congrats on your purchase. U can use regular no problem. You wont have the power that u could have if u ran premium. The car will pull timming at higher RPM's. When i first got my car i used regular unleaded. Then i got a dyno tune and it hasnt seen nothing but Premium since. If ur after just a daily driver, and dont plan do to much performance mods. then use reg/mid. If u want the most for the car you paid for run premium. It up to you.
IF u have any more questions ASK away.

The 2008 Pontiac Brocher say premium fuel is recomended but not required

The LS4 has a 10.0:1 compression ratio. Without premium it is pulling quite a bit of timing to prevent knock.

That was pretty good. I'd still run 91+ in any car the "recommends it" honestly. Hell my buddy's 4.0 V6 Mustang ran nearly 3 tenths faster in the 1/4 with race gas in it...same 60 ft. and R/T too...who knows.

I'd say run the premium anyways...its like what? $4 more a fill up vs. the low octane junk? Exactly.

Thank you. I figured it wouldnt do much being its STILL stock. Only had it a week tho. Doing home work on exhaust systems. I want something that sounds clean and smooth. NO mustang type exhausts. I wanna be a silent killer lol
