http://joegigliotti.com/gxp/wp/?page_id=3 Nice enthusiast pages with the production numbers.

This is very exciting. According to this site, this person was able to buy a complete motor/trans of one of the prototype LS motors that became our beloved LS4. Has pic of the factory set up with the front exhaust running under the cradle, then a pic of what i would like to see for our cars as far as an rear/front exhaust manifold. That merges the front and rear alot better. I'm so excited looking at this pic. We might want to contact him about other parts options.

The prototype he bought was from the 2002 Impala SS concept.

It would've been the fastest production Impala ever (even faster than the weak LS4 SS we currently have). Hell, it would've been the fastest W-body ever.

W-bodies would get more attention if they had a honest LS1. Instead of the LS4, which is like the retarded red-headed step child of the LSx family.

GM detailed what they did to that LS1. Quite a bit of it was custom, and getting the PCM program they used would be tricky. But of course it's possible.
