hey guys I have a 97 gtp an I just noticed yesterday that at idle an around 1500 to 2000 rpms at about 10 15% throttle just riding down the road from 45 to 60 mph my scan gauge is goin crazy it will shoot all the way up to 15.5* of kr even just sitting still idling an it don't matter if its been running long or just turned it on ive replace all the knock sensors thanking maybe one of them was bad but it never made any difference at all ive seen on some other forums that some 97 pcm do that is that true or do I need to be worried I run my scane gauge at all times for kr an it just started doing this

Lots of 97s have problems with part throttle kr. Many, including myself, have disabled the knock sensors below 2500-3000 rpm in the tune. I set mine at 2500 rpm and it is good.

I believe timing retard will show up as KR, even when some other situation is calling for retard. Torque management can retard timing as well, and it will show on your scanner as KR. Guess what I'm saying is KR is not always a result of knock sensors.

it may be a 97 thing but on my 01 TM does not show up at KR. I pull 10* at the shifts to help protect the trans.
