Hi there, my 2006 Grand Prix supercharger 2 belt tensioner is whacked and I'm going to replace it. On Advanced Auot web sites they have two different types of tensioners. one is this
    http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/c...belt+tensioner

and the other is this http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/l...belt+tensioner

does this car have two tensioners ? which one do I need. Thanks

Which one is bad? The first one is your accessory loop. The second is for the supercharger. Yes, you have one of each.

    its this one then http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/l...=27795&irgwc=1

and damn thats a lot. add a code for sure. or hit a junk yard for cheap parts.

inside the tensioner is a nut. its a 13 mm. but not all deep sockets fit. i find a 12 point 13 mm fits perfect. kobalt brand.

some have ground down the out side of the socket to make it fit. thats the only hang up changing it.

and a popping noise dont really mean its bad, it could be the pulley on it, and its change able for 20 bucks. take the belt off spin all the pulleys by hand, they should spin free and smooth.

when a tensioner is bad they bounce like mad at idle. you also have wear indicator marks on it, you look at it from the top and side to see the marks.

it slides off the stud, not much to it. note the angle its on there, theres this little notch that holds it in place. just take a pic before you take it off, you'll be fine.
