I know that the flex pipe and the cat are built together. Has anyone seen if this typical rattle under load in that area, I need to find a resolution. I want to go with a High flow one and an updated flex joint but not sure where to start. Has anyone ran across this problem.

The rattle you are getting is the heat shield not the cat itself,
unless of course you beat the tar out of it w/ a hammer and knocked all the substrate loose, and you got a big piece flopping around in there.

i just tore my heat shield off of the cat and the underside of the car so it wouldnt rattle and would fit into the tunnel a little. when i have the car up on a lift i need to take a BFH and beat the underside of my car a little so everything fits better.

    BFHs make everything better.

I have not looked to into it yet. I didnt hammer the cat that hard just tapped it a little to see if it was a flex pipe, cat or heat shield. it does sound like the heat shield and I think in time of it rattling so much it has caused one of my O2 sensors to fault out.

nope. i dont have any heat shields on my car and only half the emissions stuff. my cat nearly touches the bottom of my car because of where my downpipe comes out so i had to rip off the heat shield that goes above it so i could jam it up in there more.

Ok so I took the cat pipe off and well it was not the heat shield since the heat shield is welded on all the way around. There is a piece of metal in the inside of the flex joint that had wore out the metal netting/ an insulator underneath and that what was rattling so I cut it out since it looked like it was just a restriction before the Cat.

    I will supply pictures later.
