I just blew my engine and I need a good replacement all of the l67 are 100k plus mileage and are around $400 last year there were more options at lower prices but not now

My other option is to drop in a 2007 n/a block and swap my heads I found one with 50k and $300 but I don't want to loose strength in the rods and pistons. is the l26 stronger than the l36 or l67 I have read that the l67 are l36 rods are stronger

And to help with kr I am planning on running a thicker head gasket

Are you making more than 500 whp? If not the bottom end wont matter. And just use normal head gaskets. Run a "cold air intake", 180* tstat and maybe 1 step colder plugs.

And you make how much power??

Anything under 400, run whatever motor you can find.

I never hear of anyone snapping a rod or cracking one or anything like that. Either it knocks itself to death or the piston explodes.

There is a thread on the Fiero Forums where a dude broke a rod in his turbo car while cruising down the interstate. He was making north of 500 whp though.

It blew on the dyno while tuning it 250hp 300 ftlb the number pissed me off more than the engine spinning a crank bearing but after the first two runs I made some changes and the last run it all let go I usually don't go over 5k 5500 rpm but the guy running the dyno hit 6250 or what ever I had set for red line

Mods are gen v , 3.0 pulley, intercooled, 1.9yt, ls7 lifters , Ported t.b. intake s/c , sd headers full exhaust , 42.5 racetronix etc etc ... I just can't have this happen again and I am looking for something with around 50k that's cheap and strong

I have read that the l32 l26 engines uses powder metal rods and coated skirts but some have shattered the rods is this a common problem I understand that with the rigidity of powder metal rods they break instead of bending or just flexing like cast but is this really stronger?
